WHAT IS THE LCVP ?

Students must have a certain combination of subjects to be eligible.(see list)The LCVP Combines the academic strengths of the Established Leaving Certificate with new and dynamic focus on enterprise, the world of work, information technology and languages. The strengthened vocational dimension is achieved through the provision of three Link Modules- Preparation for Work, Work Experience and Enterprise Education  by linking of Leaving Certificate Subjects into Vocational groupings and through a cross  curricular and interdisciplinary emphasis. This enhances teaching and learning in the subject areas.

The program aims to prepare students for adult life by ensuring that they are educated in the broadest sense with an ability to cope and thrive in an environment of rapid change. It promotes the skills and qualities of self- reliance, innovation to the lives of students on leaving school for further education, for employment or for self-employment.

In the course of the program students and their teachers are encouraged to look beyond the confines of the school to establish links with business and local community organizations. This dialogue with entrepreneurs and adult in the company enhances the vocational relevance of the learning experience. Bringing schools, businesses and community organizations together in mutually beneficial partnership is a key aim of the LCVP.
